In every adult there lurks a child—an eternal child, something that is always becoming, is never completed, and calls for unceasing care, attention and education. That is the part of the human personality which wants to develop and become whole.

-C.G. Jung

I work as a psychotherapist, wellness coach, and workshop leader. I work collaboratively with clients of all ages, to identify their values and goals, and offer tools to cultivate an intentional, fulfilling life. I honor the uniqueness of each individual in a caring, supportive environment. Clients are guided to explore their values and from there, establish positive intentions for themselves. Once intentions are clear, together we develop life skills that lead to happy, joyful and successful living in your personal and professional life.

Therapy with Children

I love working as a counselor with children and their families. I have several years experience working as a therapist with children in public school and agency settings. I utilize art and play therapy, which has been shown to be very effective with children of all ages. Therapists such as D.W. Winnicott, Virginia Axline and others, viewed play as therapeutic healing in and of itself. Play in therapy is a safe place where fantasy may be used, allowing the therapist to interact with the inner world of the child. Play therapy approaches can be somewhat directive, but generally in my work I allow the child to lead and any interaction is done mindfully. While "play" may be seen as irrelevant by adults, for children it is an essential vehicle for learning about and adapting to the real world. Young children experience play and experimention with objects, and incorporate these "rehearsals" into real-life scenarios in order to understand and follow social codes.

Mindfulness for Well Being

Mindfulness is paying attention to our experience, from moment to moment, without judging the experience or trying to change it. Over time, this practice helps cultivate an awareness of our experience, allowing us to accept what is. Our resistance to what is, causes us much suffering. I have been teaching mindfulness based stress reduction since 2005 in healthcare and educational settings, as well as in wellness workshops and Mind-Body Stress Management classes for Kaiser Permanente.

Individual coaching sessions may be scheduled, in person or by telephone, and group sessions in mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) training are available. These MBSR classes are modeled after the eight week course developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and colleagues at the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Sierra SoulCollage

Developed by Seena Frost, M.A., MDiv., SoulCollage® is a process through which intuition guides the creation of cards, expressing aspects of personality that speak directly to, and from, our inmost being. Each card has deep meaning and may be helpful for exploring life's questions. Cards can be created individually or in groups. Ongoing workshops and classes are being offered. For more information about SoulCollage, check the SoulCollage page or visit www.soulcollage.com.

Mandala for Healing

As a spiritual practice, mandala-making can be used to establish a sacred space and as an aid to meditation. The act of creating them can be very healing, as one taps into healing energies inherent in all of us. The Psychologist Carl Jung viewed the mandala as "a representation of the unconscious self." He personally found that painting mandalas helped him to identify emotional wounds and to move toward individuation, or wholeness, in the personality.
